dōTERRA essential oils for conception

I haven’t mentioned it a lot but I am infertile. It was a sh*t of a journey to get to motherhood and I often wonder how different it would have been if I knew then, what I know now. I am passionate about women conceiving naturally and easily as to me that’s a birthright.

The stats are that 1 in 4 of us will struggle to conceive. That’s 25% and to add to the gloom, that statistic is set to rise in the coming years. On a brighter note, remember that your body is incredible. With the right tools, it knows what it needs to do and can do it.

There are many natural tools out there to help your body prepare for conception and one of them is essential oils. I can’t go back in time to when I was struggling but I can help others, so here are some essential oils to support conception:

1. Clary Sage

This essential oil stimulates the pituitary gland which produces estrogen. This will help your body regulate its own hormones naturally. Clary sage is also a uterine tonic and is best paired with Geranium. This essential oil is also helpful in relieving feminine problems, stress, depression and anxiety. And on top of all that, it’s a libido booster! Let’s not forget the men either, Clary sage is also beneficial for male infertility as well as treating male hormonal imbalances.

2. Fennel

This spicy aniseed-y smelling oil has been known for thousands of years for its effects on the female reproductive system. Fennel helps to regulate the menstrual cycle, specially light and painful periods. Fennel is known to have a strong estrogenic effect and is one of the most effective phytoestrogenic oils.

3. Geranium

Geranium essential oil has a profound balancing effect on the endocrine system and helps to regulate hormone function.  This essential oil works as an uterine and ovarian tonic.  Geranium will help to regulate irregular menstruation to create a regular cycle.

4. Lavender

Lavender essential oil regulates the menstrual cycle, and contains phytoestrogens. This essential oil calms and relaxes the mind. Trying to conceive can quickly become incredibly stressful and Lavender is a key oil is in relaxing and maintaining calm and peace. Very effective when combined with Geranium and Clary Sage. If stress becomes an issue, here are some more oils that could help.

5. Myrrh

This amazing essential oil assists the reproductive organs, is an aphrodisiac (yeah baby!) and also supports hormonal balance.

These are the main oils, there are others, but according to my friends and all the research I have done, these are the oils that we recommend you start with.

A super easy way to combine ALL of these oils is to use dōTERRA’s proprietary blend ClaryCalm. This blend has Clary Sage, Lavender, Geranium, Fennel, Bergamot, Roman Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Cerderwood, Carrot Seed, Palmarosa and Vitex. If this is the route you chose I would add Myrrh to your protocol.

Otherwise make up a roller ball of 5 drops of each essential oil mentioned above, that is Clary Sage, Fennel, Geranium, Lavender & Myrrh, so that it’s easy and convenient to use.

Start your fertility protocol on the last day of your period. Apply to the lower abdomen and then to the inside and outside of your right ankle twice a day. This is where your vita-flex points are for the uterus and ovaries.

The other recommendation from a friend of mine is to have a drop of Grapefruit oil in water every morning. This will help to detox your body which will also help your body prepare for conception.

This is such a beautiful time in a woman’s life. My hope is that we reclaim our fertility so that falling pregnant with ease & grace is utterly normal. And using essential oils could be part of that reclamation.

My niece is looking for help as she and her husband have been married for 2 years and are hopeful to get pregnant–it hasn’t happened for them yet. I love oils and do believe they can help. I plan to make this roller ball for her and send it plus get her a bottle of Grapefruit for daily use. My question is if she starts this on the last day of her period, should she discontinue use on the first day? Also, I assume I don’t top it off with a carrier oil…maybe 10 drops of each will fit in the bottle?

I would use the roller every day. However fertility is such a complex issue and there are many different factors to consider. I would do more research and consult with your niece as to what she would use. I suggest she talks to her doctor about oils before integrating them into her regime x
