dōTERRA’s epic Loyalty Reward Program, aka FREE stuff

This was what I got this month for FREE from dōTERRA with a (wholesale) value of $505.

I know, crazy!

When I joined dōTERRA a couple of years back I had no intention of doing it as a business but I had a firm intention of using the oils for all they were worth. I decided that they were part of my natural toolkit and committed to them 100%.

I started on the Loyalty Program from Day 1. I have NEVER missed a month of ordering in 3 years.

Why did I decide to join the Loyalty Reward program? I wanted essential oils and I did not want to pay for all of them!I talk about the heart reasoning behind my commitment to essential oils, here.

How did I afford to order every month? By being creative and using dōTERRA for all the products that I usually buy from the health food store and supermarket.

Items like: Vitamins, toothpaste, muscle rub, shampoo and conditioner, face creams, hand soap, cleaning liquid, body lotion, lip balm and so on. I made sure they were like for like in terms of price and so my order was coming out of the household budget. Then I added in an oil or two a month and this was out of our healthcare budget.

As far as loyalty programs go, it’s pretty generous. The points started accumulating, going from 10% back up to 30% back after 13 months. I dislike paying full price and I love a bargain. The fact that I can save my points for the expensive and unusual oils floats my boat!

Case in point, I waited until now to order Blue Tansy. It came out last September (over 4 months ago) and yes, maybe as a Platinum leader I should have ordered it from the get go. But I do not have a spare USD114 lying around. If I did, there are other things I need to spend it on…

So I have accumulated my points since September, knowing that I wanted to get the new oils with my points wherever possible. And today my little stash of goodness arrived. Knowing I got these for free makes them smell even sweeter.

Except Blue Tansy. It’s stinky. Incredible for skin & amazing emotional support and blends like a dream (whereupon it smells better). But on it’s own, wow. Stinky.

DIY Christmas gift roller ball blends with dōTERRA essential oils

Christmas is on it’s way and it’s the season of giving. If you are like me I want to gift things that are heart-felt, special and a little unique. If I am doing oily DIY I also want it to to be easy enough for the kids to be involved in. Oh and they have to be reasonable in price too!

Tall order? Not really…!

How about Glitter Unicorn roller blends? Or Dinosaur Crystal Blue roller ball blends? Easy, reasonable and totally unique!

To make these you will need:

  1. Empty glass roller balls. I like the clear glass ones so you can see the glitter/ crystals.
  2. Chips of crystals. I used malachite as it’s green and “dinosaury”. Chose any you like.
  3. Bio-glitter which is biodegradable glitter. Earth friendly.
  4. Natural food colouring (optional- a brand called Hopper is great)
  5. Carrier oil. I use dōTERRA’s Fractionated coconut oil, you could use any good quality oil like almond oil instead.
  6. dōTERRA Essential oils- they need to be pure and safe so use the best! Go here for your own oils.
  7. Stickers! Try the $2 store or Whitcouls or any place you can buy stationary.

Unicorn Glitter Roller Ball Blend

  1. Add a pinch of glitter to the roller ball. There is no mess free way to do this!
  2. Add your essential oils of choice: I used 3 drops each of Bergamot, Elevation and Grapefruit. This is floral and uplifting.
  3. Fill the roller up with carrier oil and put the roller lid on tight.
  4. Wipe the sides of the roller ball with white vinegar or Lemon oil to get rid of any oiliness.
  5. Stick stickers on the sides of the roller ball.

Note: The glitter tends to stay in the roller ball. You will get a little amount on the skin when you use the roller but not much. The sparkle is more for the look of the blend!

Dinosaur Crystal Blue Roller Ball Blend

  1. Add a a few crystal chips to the roller ball. I used about 5 chips.
  2. Add your essential oils of choice: I used 4 drops each of Patchouli and 5 drops of Peppermint. This is a yummy non-floral smell which is calming and grounding.
  3. Add a few drops of natural food colouring.
  4. Fill the roller up with carrier oil and put the roller lid on tight.
  5. Wipe the sides of the roller ball with white vinegar or Lemon oil to get rid of any oiliness.
  6. Stick stickers on the sides of the roller ball.

Note: The crystal chips stay inside the roller ball. The food colouring will come out in little patches within the oil so if this is an issue and you are worried about it marking, I recommend you leave it out. Also the food colouring does not mix with the carrier oil- think lava lamp!

That’s it! Super easy and feel free to make up your own blends if you don’t have the oils I mentioned above. With small people, the main thing is that the more sparkles, stickers, crystals and colour you can jam on and in your roller ball, the more awesome the roller ball blend will be!!

Other suggestions are: Wild Orange and Balance, Lemon & Peppermint, Lime, Wild Orange & Grapefruit, Easy Air & Balance and Elevation & Lavender.

10 ways to use dōTERRA Lemon essential oil

Lemon essential oil is probably the most used essential oil of all, and for good reason! This humble citrus oil is one of the MOST versatile and can be used in a myriad of ways. We use Lemon essential oil every single day and go through bottles of it. Luckily it’s one of the cheapest oils due to how easy the oil is to get out of the fruit and how readily available Lemon is.

Here are some interesting facts about Lemon essential oil:

  • It takes 45 Lemons to get a 15ml bottle of essential  oil
  • Lemon oil is taken from the rind of the fruit.
  • The lemons are cold-pressed and not distilled to get the essential oil. The fruit is so juicy that there is no need to do anything other than squeeze it!
  • dōTERRA sources essential oils from the place in the world that the plant grows best, for Lemons this is Cyprus. So we have lemon oil from one of the smallest countries in the European Union, which as you can imagine from the amount of Lemon oil we use, is benefitting the local economy (win!)

Lemon has constituents of d-limonene, alpha pinenes and beta pinenes. What qualities would this bring to the oil? It means that the essential oil has antiseptic, duiretic, antioxident, antibacterial, detoxification, disinfectant, mucolytic, atringent and degreasing properties. That means this essential oil is a jack of all trades and is uplifting, invigorating and refreshing.

Here are 10 ways that you can use Lemon oil:

  1. Detoxing– lemon oil can gently help to detox the kidneys and liver. Put a drop of oil into a full glass of tepid water and drink first thing in the morning.
  2. Allergies– Lemon oil is part of the allergy trio of essential oils, the others are Lavender and peppermint. Lemon oil helps with congestion and mucus. Diffuse Peppermint, Lemon and Lavender and take 1 drop of each in a veggie capsule with a full glass of water, 3x a day during an allergic reaction.
  3. Runny nose– Rub a drop of Lemon oil over the bridge of the nose to relieve a runny nose. This works really well on kiddies too!
  4. Water retention– Massage diluted Lemon oil into the lower legs and feet and take a capsule with 2x drops of oil with a full glass of water.
  5. Jet lag- Lemon oil pairs well with Peppermint oil to give you a burst of energy and help you focus when jet lagged or very tired. Use a drop of both in the palms of your hands, rub together and inhale. This will clear your head, help you focus and wake you up.
  6. Balance your PH levels: This is such a goodie as an alkaline body is a healthy body!Put a drop of oil into a full glass of tepid water and drink first thing in the morning.
  7. Baking– Lemon is one of the best flavours in baking! Try making Paleo Lemon & Raspberry Cake  or Paleo Lemon biscuits.
  8. Concentration– Diffuse 2x drops of Lemon oil and 2x drops of Rosemary essential oil to help with focus and concentration.
  9. Heartburn & reflux– Take a drop of Lemon essential oil with a drop of Ginger essential oil in a capsule with a full glass of water.
  10. Household Cleaner– Lemon is a natural degreaser so add to a  simple water based counter top spray along with On Guard essential oil blend to make a cleaner that will cut through grease AND be naturally anti-bacterial.

These are only 10 uses of Lemon, I could have listed at least 10 more! Lemon essential oil is a “must have” in your natural medicine cabinet. Not to mention how amazing it is to cook with! Try adding Lemon oil to a bottle of olive oil and use in a salad dressing, it’s so yum! I could go on and on but seriously, you NEED this essential oil in your life. It’s incredible.
