back to school oils

Samantha Ebel-Brown April 16, 2011 00244It’s hard to believe that the summer holidays are almost over and school starts in a few days! It’s been a wonderful 6 weeks although I have to admit the sibling love tank is all but depleted and I am so over the fighting…I think they are more than refreshed and ready for some learning!!

As we cross over into the new school year I want to set the kids up so that their immunity is rocking. If they are healthy and feeling good they will be able to make the most of school and all it offers. I use essential oils heavily in times of transition to ensure that they are emotionally and physically supported.

My BFF of oils for school is the Protective Blend- On Guard. I LOVE this oil! It is a powerful blend of Clove, Wild Orange, Cinnamon, Rosemary, Eucalyptus & Cinnamon. This oil works with your body helping your body build up a natural immunity. We use this blend twice a day with the kiddies and it helps them ward off the bugs they encounter at school each year.

We are starting at a new school this year. This is a really good move for both the children but as it’s all new, there will be a little bit of anxiety. A wonderful oil for calming and grounding is Balance. This is one of my all time favourite oil blends. Its the Grounding blend and does just that- calms, centres and grounds. It’s a blend of some tree oils such as Spruce and Ho wood and I love that it’s qualities reflect the plants it comes from. Trees are deep rooted and centred and this is what Balance does for us. I have a roller ball ready so we can use that up the soles of the feet and up the pine. Rolling a little in the palms of the hands, rubbing the palms together and cupping them over the face while taking some deep breaths can be really helpful too. This helps with overwhelm or panic.

The other trick in the tool box is In Tune- the Focus Blend. This blend helps the mind to focus and concentrate and this is such a support for the classroom. This blend has oils including Anyris, Patchouli, Frankincense and Ylang Ylang among others in it. It is also grounding and so compliments Balance perfectly.

The last oil I will be using is Wild Orange. I use this beautiful oil a lot diffused and it sets the atmosphere at home to “calm and happy”. It is the Oil of Abundance emotionally and is uplifting and cheerful. It is an amazing oil to diffuse when the kids are tired a a little cranky at the end of a school day.

A little trick is to pop a diffuser into the bathroom while the kids are showering or bathing. I run an extension cord from the plug nearest the bathroom and sit the diffuser just inside the door. Depending on what they need- calming, soothing or a happy-reset, I add in an oil to suit.

Oils have been life changing for my kiddies and they are very rarely sick nowadays. If you want to start your journey to wellness and see the benefits I have for you and your family, drop me a line at oiltribenz@gmail.com and we can have a chat x
